I’m Kristin, a homeschooling mom of three amazing daughters (14, 11, & 5, currently) and I’m happily married to my main squeeze of 15 years. My degree is in biology and I was bound for medical school when I fell in love, married, got pregnant, and fell so in love with motherhood that I never looked back (okay, maybe I’ve glanced back once or twice, but only briefly). For a time I worked as a substitute teacher, then I made it over half-way through grad school (in nutrition) before dropping out to start and run a very successful lifestyle photography business for many years, but now I work very part-time doing litigation consulting for a geo-environmental company (and yes, it is every bit as exciting as it sounds, but it pays the bills and I can work from home). My favorite pastimes include dining out, people-watching, reading, television, and spending time on the lake. I love trying new and exotic foods and traveling to new places (and old ones…you can never visit California too many times).
As far as schooling philosophies go, I don’t like to be trapped in a vortex of definitions and prescriptive ideologies, but we are most definitely Classical at our core with a heavy hand of Charlotte Mason influence. We seek truth, beauty, and goodness and strive to cultivate a love of learning in our children and ourselves. The homeschooling journey has been one of many ups and downs but has always been a blessing and a source of beauty and profound purpose in our lives. My quest here is to pass on any small bit of wisdom that I may have (surely unwittingly) received. 😉
